Some advice from our past 20 years of reading essays and helping students write great essays. We could have a list of hundreds but here we go:
This is not a book report.
Tell us about you not the time you spent one day helping a community while on vacation.
Please NO Covid stories unless it really meaningful
Is everyone an EMT that wants to apply to a direct entry program?
Please do not let Aunt Karen give you advice about her essay for Vassar in 1985.
Be Yourself.
Ask for help BEFORE you spend hours writing something that just does not make sense.
Remember about your audience and that college admission counselors read hundreds of essays( or at least spend 5 minutes on an essay).
Tell a story that means something to you.
Is this a true challenge or just made up?
You can fail at something.
